Thank you very much to Brodermann & Jahn for an extremely entertaining but educational Consulegis Under 40’s Conference which took place on 24 September 2004. Both my colleague Elisabeth Woolfe and I thoroughly enjoyed the company of our Consulegis colleagues and hope that one day we will have the pleasure of inviting them to London!
It was my first time representing KSB Law and I was very impressed with the warm welcome I received. Our Consulegis adventure began early on Friday, 24 September 2004 as we took a leisurely stroll along, what we were both surprised and delighted to find out that Brodermann & Jahn’s offices are situated on Hamburg’s equivalent to London’s Bond Street! We were greeted with broad smiles and refreshments. There we met with Dr. Brodermann and his Associates, Philipp Von Dietze, Eckhart Von Bodenhausen and Tina Denso. After the usual flurry of introductions we were all escorted to our mini bus and taken deep into the countryside, concluding our journey at an impressive country house in the picturesque village of Mölln where the Conference was being held. We then sat down to a superb lunch. This gave all participants the first chance to truly get to know each other.
The first workshop of the day was about European Company Law and the revolutionary EU Directive on Societas Europae which was presented by Tina Denso and Oliver Wieske. The second work shop presented by Philipp Von Dietze was about the new European Ant-Trust Regime.
We then broke for coffee during which Dr. Brodermann broke from the conventions of the seminar timetable and took us all on a mini expedition through the pine forest to a lake. The walk was welcomed by everyone as it gave us all a chance to mull over the previous two workshops, talk with our new friends and exercise our weary limbs (our brains had been exercised enough!). Once our brief woodland walk was over, we got down to business once more and were treated to an in-depth overview of Conflict of Laws which I, and I think most of my new friends, had not had much exposure to. Dr. Andrea Tiedemann, Dr. Brodermann’s colleague, joined us mid-afternoon and also gave an extremely good lecture on European Procedural Law.
Seminars over with, we all took aperitifs and sat down to a well looked forward to dinner which surpassed all expectations!
Both mine and Elisabeth’s impressions of the Under 40’s Consulegis Seminar were that it was an extremely good idea. Thank you Dr. Brodermann and Dr. Stephanie Mehrens for having thought up the idea earlier this year in Milan! We will long remember the time and effort put into this successful seminar by Dr. Brodermann and his team.
We should like to thank everyone involved once again for a happy, informative and memorable conference.
