Michael is one of the senior partners of Robertsons. Since joining the firm in 1982, he has developed a wide ranging caseload in his over thirty years of practice.

He is an experienced advocate in the courts and tribunals of Hong Kong and has handled cases over a wide spectrum of commercial disputes at all court levels.

Michael’s practice extends to a wide variety of work for international clients including manufacturing, retail, China trade, insurance and trade law issues. He has retainers from international corporations and also operates as a corporate doctor.

Having worked as a lawyer in France between 1972-1978, he has significant connections with the French business sector and speaks the language fluently.

Michael is an active member of the legal community. He is the past president of The Law Society of Hong Kong and a continues to be a member of the Council of The Law Society of Hong Kong. He has been a member of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission, the High Court and Court of Final Appeal Rules Committee, an external examiner of Postgraduate Certificate of Laws of Hong Kong University and a member of the Law School Board of the City University of Hong Kong.

He is also the chairman of the Buildings Ordinance Appeal Tribunal Panel and the Chairman and Clerk of the Disciplinary Committee of Confederation of Insurance Brokers.

A regular speaker at legal conferences on the subject of China related business, legal ethics and Anti-Money Laundering. Michael is a very active member of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce where he was Chairman of the European Committee, the International Bar Association, Law Asia and the Commonwealth Law Association.
