AGM and Spring Conference 2010 Funchal, Isle of Madeira (Portugal), April 29 – May 2, 2010

Abreu Advogados is delighted to host its first Consulegis Annual General Meeting!
It gives us great pleasure to welcome you all to the wonderful island of Madeira.
The Madeira Archipelago, discovered by the Portuguese in 1418, is made up of the islands of Madeira, Porto Santo and the uninhabited islands of Selvagens (Wilds) and Desertas (Deserted).
Most of the major European cities are connected with direct flights to Funchal and there are several daily connections from Lisbon.
Amongst other characteristics, the archipelago is famous for:
- its exceptional natural beauty and environment, e.g. the Laurissilva Forest, a relic of the Tertiary Age, which has been classified by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage Site.
- its mild climate and year-round outdoor activities. The island’s mild climate and a water temperature that never falls below 17ºC mean that you can be on the go all the time.
- its traditions and customs, visible in its old buildings, museums and churches and even in regional products like its wine and embroidery.
- its friendly and open people, and the wonderful nightlife.
The AGM and Spring Conference will be held at the world famous Reid’s Palace Hotel, built in 1891 on one of the island’s rocky seaside, surrounded by a beautiful lush tropical garden. Amongst other things, this Hotel is famous for its roll-call of celebrities that have been guests there.
Abreu Advogados will be hosting a Welcome Reception on Thursday evening in the old city centre of Funchal.
We are proud to show you some of these famous sights and have selected the following tours which should accommodate everyone’s desire.
- Natural beauty: there will be a choice of tours, including a Jeep ride amongst Madeira’s wilderness, visit its Laurisilva forest, a visit to Madeira’s Botanic Garden, and a Workshop on Flower Arrangement and the Making of Perfume;
- Traditions and Customs: there will be tours by cable cars from the old town to Monte, one of the most famous suburbs of Funchal, Madeira’s capital city, well known for its churches, beautiful “quintas”, gardens and of course the toboggan ride;
- Regional Products: visits to the famous Madeira Wine Lodges where we have organized for a wine tasting, visit the center of basket-making and observe the actual process of how they are made, visit one of the island’s famous embroidery factories;
- Enjoy its mild climate:Â we propose a half-day trip on board the Santa Maria, this sail boat is an exact replica of the original ship on which Christopher Columbus sailed to the new world
We hope to have given you an idea of what you may expect next Spring, see you then!
